Ara Hovsepyan

Ara Hovsepyan currently holds the position of the Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Account Armenia, the biggest donor funded program in Armenia. 

 

Mr. Hovsepyan started his professional career at the Department of International Organizations of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he worked up to the Second secretary and Deputy Secretary-General of the Armenian National Commission for UNESCO in 1995-2000.


In 2000-2006 Mr. Hovsepyan headed the DFID Armenia office and as such was responsible for the coordination of United Kingdom's development programs in Armenia. Very important for his professional development and later career advancement was the placement at DFID London office as Assistant to the Director and Divisional Coordinator for Europe, the Middle East and Americas in 2002-2003. The year spent in the headquarters of this key UK agency was instrumental in shaping his skills and expertise in an internationally renowned setting. 


Mr. Hovsepyan has impressive academic background. His first diploma in linguistics and social studies was received in 1995 from the Yerevan Linguistic University after V. Brussov. Subsequently he received a Master's degree in political science and international relations from the American University in Armenia. In 1998-1999 Mr. Hovsepyan was enrolled in a post-graduate diploma program in international relations and diplomacy at Oxford University, Exeter College (U.K.).


For Mr. Hovsepyan it is very important to continuously improve his professional qualifications and expand his knowledge by participating in different academic and professional training programs, such as the world-renowned "Interest-Based Negotiation" at Cambridge University, "Leaders in Development" at Harvard University or "Business Executive and Leadership" at the Central Eurasia Leadership Academy (CELA) in Istanbul.


Though he has held demanding offices in the last decade, Mr. Hovsepyan has always found time to engage in public activities such as being a founder of the British Alumni Association, United National Congress NGO as well as engaging in the political life of country as member of the United Liberal National Party (MIAK).
