Lilit Asatryan is the Founding President of the Armenian Young Women's Association" NGO.
AYWA is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2004. The NGO is implementing its activities in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, both in the urban and rural communities.
The overall goal of the organization is to strengthen the role of young women in all aspects of Armenian society.
Among the objectives of AYWA are:
- Contribute to the problem solving of the young people in Armenia, in particular young women;
- Promote the good health and its protection among young women;
- Support to the protection of national values among the young women;
- Promote to raising the level of employment; small and medium business sector development;
- Support to the regional peace-keeping activities and stability, etc.
Realizing appropriate and joint strategy to solve current problems, AYWA manifests professional approach organizing educational courses, consultations, discussions and different types of events, involving larger audience.
In some projects, AYWA gathers both women and men, thus raising the public awareness on Women issues and building healthy atmosphere between genders.
AYWA works with young women between ages from 13 to 40.
AYWA is implementing its projects in the following key directions:
- Young Womens' Leadership Development
- Business and Personal Skills Development
- Democracy Education
- National and International Youth Exchanges (all youth)
As the President of the AYWA NGO Lilit Asatryan is responsible for the strategy development and decision-making process of the organization. Since 1999 Lilit Asatryan is working with the public sector, she has a huge experience in the sphere of youth, family, human rights, women, children and social issues. Lilit is a member of a number of international and local youth organizations, is the Board member of National Youth Council of Armenia NGO, as well as the Expert to the Council of Europe Directorate on Youth and Sport. Lilit is an Expert on Youth issues, also has experience in journalism and trainings: she has been the Chief Editor of "New View" youth weekly, and is providing trainings in the following subjects "Know About Business", "Youth Participation in Civil Society", "Social Partnership", Human Rights", "Electoral processes".
In 2003-2005 Lilit Asatryan served in the position of Deputy Minister on Youth Affairs and Culture, has developed and implemented the Youth Policy Concept in Armenia, was the President of the Youth Council under the Prime Minister.
