Structure

Alexander Ter-Hovakimyan, Candidate for medical sciences, Docent of Morphology Department of Yerevan State Medical University, is actively engaged in the non-governmental sector. In 1991 A. Ter-Hovakimyan has established the "Scientific Association of Armenian doctor-students" NGO the President of which he is till present. Among the activities of the organization A. Ter-Hovakimyan has initiated a number of projects directed at the protection and rehabilitation of health. The projects were implemented in the following key directions:

- Reproductive health: project director of "Reproductive health Initiative for Youth in the South Caucasus" Regional project in Armenia granted by UNFPA, 2006
- Anti-tobacco action: project director of "Let's say yes to non-smoking" granted by center of public dialogues and development, 2006
- Fight against HIV/AIDS: since 1995 a number of project have been implemented, in particular, project director of "Anti-AIDS Action Campaign" granted by Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, 2004-2005
- Community health projects: project director of "Mobile Medical Teams" project in collaboration with World Vision Armenia granted by USAID, 2004-2006
- Non-formal education in the health sector: project director of "Health Education in Secondary Schools" granted by UMCOR, 2001
- Gender equality issues: "Fight against gender based violence in South Caucasus" Project, August, 2008

A. Ter-Hovakimyan is the author of more than 45 published articles.
